Le Bambou – Cuisine Aslatique – Tunis
After five weeks in Tunisia, we missed our monthly sushi date, which we yesterday decided to do something about! The boys had told us about a sale in Zara, just another reason to visit the capital. Then its both possible for us to get our needs for shopping and sushi, satisfied. Tunis is a big city, that unfortunately means that the sushi restaurant is located a bit far away from the main street, with all the great stores. However this is not a big issue as there are taxis everywhere which are very cheap.
Finally it was time for lunch=sushi time! Our friends had been so kind to go with us, so we did not have to wander around confused, looking for the restaurant.
The restaurant was hidden due to some scaffolding work, nevertheless there were signs and therefore not impossible to find.
We were welcomed by a very friendly staff, which from the beginning was available and helpful. We chose were to sit ourselves, and the waiter was quick to bring us the menu and he gave us all the time we needed, to choose the right pieces of sushi. There were so many different dishes to choose from, both sushi, wok etc. Something for everyone! We ended up sharing 40 pieces of sushi, which we assembled from the menu. We got five different kinds, which fortunately turned out to be really delicious and very gorgeously made!
One of the sushi rolls were topped with roasted onions, which we certainly do not associate with sushi, however it was surprisingly tasty. Additionally, we had ordered sushi with tuna, crayfish and crispy shrimps and we were definitely not disappointed by our choices. It was the most pleasant meal in a very long time.
The boys are not that into sushi, we also got the opportunity to try out two of the restaurants wok dishes. One version with beef and the other “Poulet free chinois” with assorted seafood; schrimps, scallops etc. Both versions can be highly recommended. The dishes was just a bit spicy, but not compared to the food we normally get served here in Tunisia. Before their main course they had one starter each, one was a beef soup and the other “Easy boeuf” (pictures below). Also two dishes which were beautifully served and very delicious.
It is a beautiful restaurant were very detail has been considered to create the right mood. The atmosphere is very quiet and cozy due to its size and calm colors on the walls. It was a very successful trip where we got our craving for sushi satisfied. However this does not mean that we wouldn’t go for another round of sushi today!
The price was a total of 154 dinar, which correspond to approximately
This involves both 40 pieces of sushi, to starters and two main courses + water for all of us.
